OLHÃO WILL be hosting its XXII traditional seafood festival at the Jardim Pescador Olhanense from August 10 to 15 with a variety of national and international singers to entertain the crowds.
Concerts during the event will include Boney M on August 10, João Pedro Pais on August 11, Da Weasel on August 12, Tony Carreira on August 13, Portuguese rock band Xutos e Pontapés on August 14 and Melanie C from the Spice Girls will close the festival on August 15.

Algarve is hot spot for British
Recent figures from Faro Airport and the Algarve’s hotel and resort association, AHETA, indicate that British tourists are flocking to the Algarve more than ever.

Last week, The Resident reported that British people represented 44.8 per cent of the tourist market in the Algarve last month. Due to more flights available from more destinations across the UK and affordable package holidays, more British tourists are choosing the region to spend their summer holidays.

Minister defends "quality over quantity" approach for Algarve tourism

During a stay in the Algarve to promote the Allgarve summer entertainment programme, Minister for Economy and Innovation Manuel Pinho underlined his interest in attracting tourists of higher quality to the region, rather than en-masse tourism.

The type of tourism the Algarve needs is certainly not en-masse tourism, he declared during the opening of the Serralves no Algarve exhibition, in Faros historical Fábrica da Cerveja.

Oceânico Victoria Wins Best Portuguese Golf Course
The Oceânico Victoria course has been awarded Best Portuguese Golf Course 2006 in the annual Publituris Awards, which recognise outstanding performance in Portugal’s tourism industry.

Of the five courses nominated in the category of Best National Golf Course, the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course was voted best by the readers of Publituris Magazine and an independent jury of tourism professionals.

After a hectic season, which culminated in him winning the Premiership title with Manchester United and picking up both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards, Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying a relaxing break this summer.

Last month he decided to take a well-deserved holiday at the luxurious Vale do Lobo Golf, Beach and Spa Resort, in Portugal's central Algarve, staying in a luxurious beach-side villa.

Cacela to host Da Weasel

The peaceful village of Cacela Velha in Vila Real de Santo António will be joining the tour of summer festivals when it hosts the first “Youth Festival” of Cacela Velha.

Da Weasel, Sam The Kid, Nigga Poison and the DJs José Padilla, Rui da Silva, Overule, Hélder Soares, Rui Vargas, Hélder Santos and Filipe d 'Palma are part of the bill of this new music festival that will be contributing to the entertainment during the Algarve summer and should continue over the coming years.

Dolphins are back in Guadiana River
Dolphins are back in the Guadiana River thanks to the cleaner waters and the quantity of food available. However, they only risk going a little north of the international bridge that connects Portugal to Spain. The search for food, in particular mackerel, seems to be the main reason for these mammals to make a detour from their normal route.
