The University of the Algarve (Ualg) will in the next scholastic year
widen its formative offer with the inclusion of post-secondary,
non-superior CET - Cursos de Especialização Tecnológica (Courses of
Specialised Technology), which aim to confer professional
qualifications at level 4.
These courses, in addition to general and scientific training,
have a strong technological training and in the work context (work
experience).

The water desalination project for supplying four hotels with about
a thousand rooms near the Praia de Alvor will necessitate an investment
of about a million euros.
Pedro Lopes, director of the Pestana group in the Algarve, the
company that is preparing to implement the desalination project, says
that the desalination unit will have a maximum output of fresh water of
800 cubic metres per day. |

A resolution of the Council of Ministers approved the
contents of a concession contract for the development, in a public
service regime, of the port destined for recreational boating,
designated as the Marina de Albufeira.
The referred concession will be celebrated soon between the
Portuguese State, represented by the Minister for Public Works,
Transports and Communications, and the company ALBUMARINA.

Worlds Largest Sand Sculpture Event, FIESA 2006, open it’s doors to
public this saturday in Algarve, with this years theme Mythologies.
The 4th International Sand Sculptures Festival (FIESA 2006)
will start up from Saturday, May 20, at 18:00h, exhibiting thirty five
thousand tons of sand, sculpted in scenes and symbols of the universal
mythology. The festival locates in Pear, in Algarve, and it exhibits an integrated
group of sculptures in sand of great dimensions, in an area about
15.000 m2.
