Resulting from a joint initiative of the Orquestra do Algarve and the Teatro Municipal of Faro, the cycle of "Promenade Concerts" begins on 26th February, running until June, and has been specially conceived with families in mind.

This collection of concerts materialises "the efforts of the Orquestra do Algarve in seeking formats" which "can bring classical music to all areas of the public", refers a press release.

On February 25th, back for a second time due to the runaway success of their first appearance in November 2005, dancers from the National Dance Company will light up the Vale do Lobo Auditorium with an enchanting ballet performance.
The format of the evening will be similar to the last performance by these talented young dancers, with a mixed bill of excerpts from different ballets. However, a completely new repertoire will be unveiled, to include much-loved classics The Sleeping Beauty and Paquita...

This event about the sea and nautical activities runs between 1st and 5th March in the Jardim Pescador of Olhão.
The Municipal Council of Olhão and Fesnima are preparin the 3rd edition of EXPOMAR - Fair of the Sea and Nautical Activities. The event, which every year brings thousands of visitors to the capital of the Ria Formosa, opens its doors between 1st and 5th March.

ESTOI PALACE, built in the Algarve in the 18th century, is to become a luxurious Pousada de Portugal, forming part of a collection of tourist lodges boasting a historical connection.  
Situated in the village of Estoi, 10 kilometres from Faro, the French-style palace and gardens will be the subject of a transformation project worth an estimated 10 million euros, with work due to begin in September this year.

The Parishes of São Clemente and of São Sebastião in Loulé, on 12th February in the Centro Social e Paroquial will make a public presentation of the Encyclic "God is Love", recently issued by Pope Benedict XVI.

IN 2006, the Algarve’s 16 borough councils will collectively spend a total of around 700 million euros. With the exception of the budget plans for the borough of Lagoa, for which agreement is yet to be reached, all budgets for 2006 have now been approved by the respective municipal assemblies.
