The highly regarded German electronic music band will top the bill at the party on the Praia da Batata in Lagos. Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung are already confirmed for the Algarve Beach Party 2007, which will be held in Lagos on 9th August. The German duo, who perform as the group M.A.N.D.Y., will be topping the bill, alongside other names such as DJ Patife and Elektro Fighterz, in the area devoted to dance music.

On Sunday, the Algarve Naturist Club (CNA) collected some 320 kilos of rubbish from the beach at Praia do Barril in Tavira, one of the official areas for the practice of naturism in the Algarve. The material collected during the cleaning campaign, which brought together a number of fans of naturism on the beach, included glass bottles, drink cans, clothes, fluorescent tubes, fishing equipment, oil drums and “lots of toilet paper”, according to Álvaro Campos, president of the CNA.

The fair will take place from 24th to 26th August at the Portimão Arena in the Parque de Feiras e Exposições. A source at the Portimão Municipal Council told the Algarve Observer that the model for the event would be similar to that of the "III Salão Erótico de Lisboa” which was a repetition of the experiences of Barcelona and Mexico City. The same source said that they were still waiting to hear about the stars who would be attending.

António Pina, the recently elected president of the Algarve Tourism Board, told the Algarve Observer that he thought it would be proof of intellectual honesty that the person to receive the prize should be the one in charge of the previous team, Hélder Martins, who then handed it over to him. He added that the organisation was yesterday awarded first prize in the category in which the different tourist boards in the country were competing, something that distinguishes the “good work of the previous management” and represents “public recognition of the organisation on the part of a jury of 15 people”.

Services provided by Faro Hospital could become quicker, thanks to a computer system that will enable the casualty department doctors to monitor patients through the whole process. Having access to an x-ray on a computer screen while the patient is doing tests in another department is one of the possibilities of the new system known as Alert that has been acquired by the Faro District Hospital, which has been in operation since 14th June.

From July until the end of the summer, the old brewery the “Fábrica da Cerveja” in Faro is presenting a collection of contemporary art from the Fundação Serralves, an initiative by the local authority in partnership with the "Allgarve" programme. The exhibition "Livre Circulação/Toll Free: Serralves no Algarve" includes works by fine artists such as René Bertholo, João Penalva and Julião Sarmento, who use sculpture, video and film as media.
