Art Algarve: Second Art fair in Loulé |
After the great success of the first art fair ARTE ALGARVE in June, the next fair takes place from Sunday 29th of November until Tuesday 1st of December, again at EXPO ALGARVE Loulé, open daily from 15-22 o´clock. The 1st of December is a national holiday (“feriados”), which turns the 3 days into the ideal time for Christmas shopping, and also for buying art for the home. As many people in the Algarve have two homes – one here and one in the north of the country or abroad – they are especially keen on finding what they want, be it paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramic or jewellery. At this fair, which is the biggest of its kind in Portugal, they meet the artists in person and buy directly, meaning: much cheaper than in galleries. WITH CHARITY EVENT 'TREE OF LOVE' ARTE ALGARVE initiated a wonderful charity event which will run parallel to the art fair from 29th of November till 1st of Dezember: All visitors are invited to bring along presents for orphans and put them under a big Christmas tree called Tree of Love, decorated from Stela Barreto, Meinke Flesseman and António da Cunha. A choir will sing Xmas carols at 9 pm. Afterwards the presents will be given to one of three selected orphanages. Three days, three different orphanages. The English magazine GOODLIFE, the weekly ALGARVE RESIDENT and the German magazine Entdecken Sie are supporting the event. Art Gallery in Loulé This gallery, located in the heart of the Algarve just one kilometre from Loulé town centre at the main entrance of ExpoAlgarve, exclusively exhibits paintings, sculptures, photographs and other works by artists who are associated with the fair ARTE ALGARVE. Art Gallery in Monchique Our sister gallery is situated in the main square of the picturesque mountain town of Monchique. Here, you will also find contemporary works by artists linked to the movement ARTE ALGARVE and the fair in Loulé. The Monchique gallery, which also functions as the administrative headquarters for all activities of ARTE ALGARVE, opens Tuesday-Friday 11am – 4pm. more info: http://www.artealgarve.net/ |
