The Centro Cultural São Lourenço opened in March 1981.
Situated near the beautiful chapel of São Lourenço, it occupies a row of two hundred years old rural houses, carefully restored in the authentic Algarvian style of the time.

The Centro Cultural is a private initiative and has been politically and economically independent from the beginning.

There are six gallery rooms, large patios and terraces and a well kept sculture garden. Altogether 4.500 sqm.

Over the years, the Centro has organised hundreds of exhibitions and even more concerts.
We work closely with the Associação de Amigos de Música de São Lourenço which helps to steadily improve the quality of our concerts.

For some years, the Centro Cultural has also established a friendly and effective cooperation with Vale do Lobo. We created there a sculpture park and decorated the elegant new premises of the Auditorium and Shopping Center with modern art. We are also responsible for the artistic programme of Galeria de Arte Vale do Lobo.
