Lagoa is one of the six parishes of the council, also its at headquarters and has had the same name since 16 .January 1713, the date of the Council creation by D. Jose I. The name Lagoa (pound) originates from people that were Brought up beside a lake or pond with the construction of a cancel between lagoa and Armação de Pera areas used to dry up before flooding being the original fixation of the population.
