Algarve packed with events

The complete schedule for Allgarve 2008 was presented by Manuel Pinho, Minister of Economy, at the Algarve Invites Fair held in Oporto last Sunday. The event, promoted by the Portuguese and Algarve Tourism Boards, has a total of 65 events organised between the 2nd of May and the 2nd of November in various locations of the Algarve.

Concerts, sport and cultural exhibitions and gastronomic schemes are the features for the second edition of the Allgarve.
There are a total of 12 musical events planned, with names such as Lou Reed, Diana Krall, Simply Red, Vanessa da Mata, Mariza and Caetano Veloso appearing.
It might be one of the last opportunities to see Simply Red live, this year tour being their last one after an outstanding 25 year career.
The Allgarve Jazz Festival is also part of the programme and Lucky Peterson, Herbie Hancock (Grammy for Best Album in 2007), Manhattan Transfer, Patti Austin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Maria João and Mario Laginha will be the artists performing.
In the sports section, the F1 Boat Grand Prix, the Portugal Superbikes Grand Prix and the Portugal Rally are the main events to be held, as well as several international golf tournaments, Sailing National Trophy and the World Kitesurf Circuit among others.
Also in the limelight is the Sardine Festival in Portimão, the Seafood Festival in Olh�o, the Medieval Fair in Silves, the Sasha Summer Sessions in Portimão, Medieval Days in Castro Marim and the White Night in Loulé.
