The peaceful village of Cacela Velha in Vila Real de Santo António will be joining the tour of summer festivals when it hosts the first “Youth Festival” of Cacela Velha. Da Weasel, Sam The Kid, Nigga Poison and the DJs José Padilla, Rui da Silva, Overule, Hélder Soares, Rui Vargas, Hélder Santos and Filipe d 'Palma are part of the bill of this new music festival that will be contributing to the entertainment during the Algarve summer and should continue over the coming years.
Luís Marreiros told the Algarve Observer that the event should continue and create a sense of loyalty, with high quality artists. He said that this part of the Algarve was not thought of as a place for music festivals devoted to young people. The organisers also want to create an ambience that is different to the other summer festivals, taking advantage of the location of Cacela Velha and its natural and environmental surroundings. Luís Marreiros promised that they would be having a “lounge” style ambience for the event and that it would be a different way of spending one’s time. Tickets for one day cost 10 euros and for the three days 25 euros. People wanting to camp and enjoy the festival from start to finish will have to pay 50 euros. Apart from appearances by the well known Sam The Kid and Da Weasel, other highlights will be performances by José Padilla, who was resident for a number of years at the legendary Café Del Mar in Ibiza, and by Rui da Silva, the Portuguese DJ resident in London who won world fame with the hit “Touch Me”, which got to number one in the UK charts. Doors to the festival open every day at 6 pm; the event is organised by the Vila Real de Santo António council.
