Canadians seek the Algarve |
|
Twenty Canadian tour operators will be visiting the Algarve on 15th
November to get to know the destination, especially with regard to
senior golf and tourism, with a view to their promotion in Canada. The initiative is organised by Star Travel, the principal operator in
western Canada and responsible for the greater part of the Canadian
tourists who choose the low season to visit the Algarve, the average
stay being 22 days.
Canada is a strategic market for the Algarve and, according to the
Marketing Plan 2007/2009, the objective is to maintain its current
quota of three per cent.
Between January and August 2006, more than 130 thousand nights
were registered with Cadadian tourists, an increase of 6.1 per cent in
relation to the same period last year, corresponding to more than 60
per cent of the national total.
