Environmental awareness and the defense of ecological specifications of the Ria Formosa is the object of the programme "Viva a Ria", to run until the end of August, in the municipality of Tavira.

This programme, realised in a partnership between the Vodafone Foundation, the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN), the Parish Council of Santa Luzia and the company A Vida é Bela, has as its objective promoting the awareness and environmental education of children, youths and adults, through play and educational activities, bringing together fun, socialising and leisure.

The activities include workshops and free boat trips, guided by biologists, both having as there meeting point the Beach of Terra Estreita. In parallel, the project further contemplates the creation of special conditions of access and installations on the beach, with free usage for people with special needs.

Information regarding the timetables of the workshops and the boat trips, correlating with the tides, are published on the Beach of Terra Estreita, located in front of the Parish of Santa Luzia.
