This is the annual reunion, also known as Assises of AIACE, the Association of Former Employees of the European Union, an association of former EU staff worldwide, most of whom are retired. The Portuguese section of this association has been in existence since 2004 at the European Commission’s office in Lisbon.

The initiative will be attended by the president of Albufeira Council Desidério Silva, and the president of Faro Council José Apolinário, former deputy at the European Parliament.

During the reunion, the Day of Europe will be marked (9th May) with balloons being released to commemorate the anniversary of the Robert Schumann declaration. A petanque competition will also be organised and a competition to test people’s knowledge of Europe, with prizes being awarded.
