EasyJet, one of the companies operating the most flights to and from Faro, grew by 30% last year. The most important route is from an airport in the UK to Faro. Luton – Faro was the easyJet route that saw the largest number of passengers to Portugal; the low-cost airline has the most passengers and arrivals and departures at Faro airport.
According to the company’s figures, easyJet recorded an increase of 33% as compared with the same period last year in the transport of passengers to Portugal, and they carried some 700,000 passengers during the Easter holidays throughout Europe.
In Faro alone, easyJet recorded 735,398 arrivals and departures. In 2006 it came out ahead of Monarch (440,564), Thomsonfly (155,257), Jet2 (155,035), AerLingus (139,140), and Ryanair (137,320), the other main operators at the airport.
In Portugal, easyJet recorded over 24,200 passengers, an increase of 33% as compared with 2006 when over 18,220 tourists travelled.
easyJet, the leading European low-cost airline, is at present operating 124 planes on 289 routes between 74 airports in 20 different countries. The company has carried 33 million passengers during the last 12 months.
