The south coast of the Algarve, Portugal, is ready for the first event of the European Longboard Tour 2007 that will take place on the 5th, 6th and 7th October. Four Oceans 2007 will be hosted in Praia de Faro. The Prize Money is €3 000. The best longboarders in Europe are expected to come to Portugal. Clube de Surf de Faro is promoting the event. It will be the first time that the European Longboard Tour comes to Portugal. The Algarve will be the perfect setting for this high level competition in a time that surf keeps expanding in this country as to numbers of surfers and as to numbers of competition events.
The fact that the Portuguese surfers will also be competing for the national 3rd stage is another highlight for this event. Therefore, the best Portuguese longboarders will show their skills too. After the 2nd stage that took place in Praia Grande, Diogo Gonçalves, José Teixeira, Ramon Peres, Rui Ribeiro e Manuel Constantino will battle for a win on the waves of Praia de Faro. Manuel Mestre, President of Clube de Surf de Faro stated that “this will be the most important surf event ever in the south coast of Portugal. Together with all the surfers coming from Europe willing to take the European title, we will also have the best Portuguese scoring points for the national Tour. The event is sponsored by Câmara Municipal de Faro, Junta de Freguesia do Montenegro, Instituto Português da Juventude.
