The President of the Metropolitan Council of the Algarve (AMAL),
Macário Correia, today, 11th October, met with the Minister of Health,
Correia de Campos, in Lisbon, with the objective of defining the
strategy for the launch of the Central Hospital of the Algarve and of
its respective calendar.
In this meeting, which was also marked by the presence of the President
of the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, Rui Lourenço, it
was concluded that in "the middle of 2007 the public competition for
the works could be launched", which will be carried out in the Parque
das Cidades, next to the Algarve Stadium, fixing the beginning of the
respective works on the land also for the end of 2007, normal
conditions prevailing.
Another conclusion was that "the Hospital will comprise almost
all features, with the exception of some domains which statistically
are not justified" reveals a communication from AMAL.
In the meeting the question was also placed which "with the
creation of this great hospital, imposes in its turn a reflection about
the network of units in the region, with their specific and
complementary aspects", added Macário Correia in the communication.
