With the objective of strengthening the bet on the German market,
during the month of November, ten German journalists and a
representaive of the travel agency HWBA PR will visit the region, in an
initiative by the Association of Tourism of the Algarve (ATA).
The two press trips will take place between 4th and 11th November,
counting on the presence of journalists from the prestigious areas of
the German media, such as "Frau im Spiegel", "Caravaning" and "Die
Zeit". Reinforcing the areas of Sun & Sea, MICE and Golf is one of
the main objectives of this action.
Still within the scope of the promotion of the Algarve as a
destination, in Germany, the ATA mark their presence this weekend, 4th
and 5th, in the Fair "Premiere - Neuheiten Reisesommer 2007", in
Frankfurt, where the new catalogue of the tour operator
Neckermann/Thomas Cook will be presented. This is an event aimed
specifically at the German "trade", where around eight thousand German
travel agents are expected, as well as representatives of the tourist
industry of the country.
In the first eight months of the year, the German market
represented more than 1 million bed nights, which corresponds to 41.5%
of the national total. Between January and August 2006, the German
guests in the region exceeded 150 thousand, which equates to 30.3% of
the national total. Between January and September of this year, Faro
Airport registered a movement of around 500 thousand German passengers.
The Strategic Marketing Plan of the Algarve for the three-year
period 2007/2009 shows an increase of 49% in the budget for the
external markets considered decisive, as is the case of Germany, which
continues to be "a priority for the promotion of the Algarvian region",
states the ATA.
