LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB TRAINING AT BARRINGTONS
2006 FA Cup Winners and 2005 Champions League Winners, Liverpool Football Club have been training at Barringtons Golf & Health Spa in Vale do Lobo.  The team were in the Algarve for an intensive 5-day training break prior to the squad’s game with Barcelona next week. “The Barringtons staff gave us a great warm welcome, they are highly efficient and experienced at dealing with teams.”
Said Pako Ayestaran, Assistant Manager of Liverpool Football Club  “Staying here has meant we have been able to focus on our training without having to worry about any press intrusion, and the security has been excellent.”

“The facilities are fantastic, and it is both a safe and secure venue.” commented Rafael Benitez, Manager of Liverpool Football Club “Barringtons have great on-site facilities, everything is within walking distance, the pitch, gym and accommodation are all within meters of each other.  We also have the added bonus of great leisure facilities in the resort, including golf and tennis, we could not have asked for more from our break.”

The players spent every morning training on the Barringtons pitch, using the private gymnasium equipped to the standards that Liverpool expect.  A couple afternoons were given up to sports leisure pursuits which included golf and tennis at Vale do Lobo.  There was even enough time for some of the players to have a golf lesson.  Steven Gerrard who improved several aspects of his game including his grip, swing path and pre-shot routine with the help of the Barringtons Golf Professionals.

“It's a great chance for everyone to get to know each other better, particularly for people like me who are in our first season at the club.” Striker, Dirk Kuyt said.  He went on to comment “It's also a good chance for me to improve my golf! I don't have a handicap, but I reckon I would play off about 22. It's not something I played much before, but the lads at Liverpool play all the time and some of them are pretty good.”

The team departed from Faro, back to Liverpool on Friday afternoon, and will be flying off again to Barcelona next week.
