Manjares Serranos to arrive at Cortelha
Another edition of the Manjares Serranos is to take place in the multisports complex of Cortelha on 5th and 6th August. This is the sixth year of an event which features traditional mountain specialities such as pigs' ears, chouriço (spicy pork sausage) and home-made presunto (salted bacon), as well as cheese with honey and dinner of beans with pork.
In the initiative, promoted by the Association of Friends of Cortelha, you can also taste stewed wild boar, lamb with chickpeas, braised cockerel and "papas de milho" (made from ground maize), all accompanied by a typical home-made wine and aguardente de medronho (liquor distilled from the arbutus berry).

On the same occasion, there will also take place the 3rd Festival of Folklore of the Serra do Caldeirão which this year features the presence of various Ranchos Folclóricos (traditional dance groups) from around the country, including Loulé.

There will also be Choral Groups from various regions of the country, Traditional Algarvian songs and a group of Accordionists from São Brás de Alportel.

The 6th Manjares Serranos and the 3rd Festival of Folklore from the Serra do Caldeirão are organised by the Association of Friends of Cortelha and are supported by the Municipal Council of Loulé, the Parish Council of Salir and the Basic & Integrated School of Salir.
