New Civil Governor from Wednesday |

The Algarve Observer has learned that the ceremony for assuming office has been scheduled for Wednesday in Lisbon, in the ceremonial room of the Ministry of Internal Administration at 5.30 pm in the presence of the minister Rui Pereira. Isilda Gomes, who holds a degree in Maths and Science Education, is 55 and originally from Mide in the district of Guarda: she is giving up her post as regional delegate of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training.
The change of Civil Governor in the capital of the district of the Algarve has come about as a result of the Civil Governor, António Pina, becoming a candidate for the position of president of the RTA.
Elections are planned for Tuesday. António Pina is the only candidate, in a list which has arisen following an agreement between the PS and the PSD.
The list headed by Pina will take office the next day, Wednesday, at the RTA at noon. The ceremony will be attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Bernardo Trindade.
