One of the world’s most luxurious entertainment and leisure chains, Nikki Beach, has signed a deal to open a beach club next to Portimão Marina in May. Since the Nikki Beach brand was established 10 years ago in Miami, Florida, it has become a preferred destination for famous people, including Donald Trump and U2’s Bono, to relax and enjoy the area.
There are Nikki Beach clubs in seven countries and, in May, Portugal will join the ranks alongside Marbella, West Indies, Saint Tropez and Sardinia, among others. The brand is so extensive that it has its own bimonthly magazine, event co-ordinators, VIP card, fashion label and more.
The clubs mix food, fashion, music and liveliness, and, at night, parties have been described by The Observer newspaper as the “sexiest in the world”.
Tivoli Hotéis and the Portuguese Tourism Board signed a contract last week with Nikki Beach to open a club at the Tivoli Arade hotel, next to the Portimão Marina. More beach clubs are expected to open soon in the Algarve, including one in Vilamoura at the Tivoli Marinotel.
A pool facing the beach has been designed for the Portimão club, and a restaurant, bars and live entertainment are likely to attract many as will the poolside and beach food and beverage services, which are key to the chain’s luxury concept.
Party time!
The restaurant will be similar to the Nikki Beach’s Pearl concept, offering a breakfast buffet, as well as à la carte lunch and dinners. Evening meals will be even more eventful with dancers and live shows. Fresh fish, sushi and Portuguese delicacies will be served throughout the day and, at night, parties will be organised during the summer.
Marina Correia, from Marinas de Barlavento S.A., which owns Portimão Marina, said: “I hope that our partnership becomes the best Nikki club of all.” General manager of Tivoli Arade hotel in Portimão, Mário Candeias, said it will be “the hottest place in the Algarve for this summer and those to come”.
Nikki Beach’s event co-ordinators will be organising the Portimão Music Conference, or “PortiPalooz”, a two-day music festival beginning on June 8 at Praia da Rocha. Surrounded by the cliffs, the beach party will be organised in association with Cirque do Soleil, Sirius Radio, IMG and the UK’s BBC Radio. Chinese acrobats and Brazilian dancers will provide the visual entertainment, while the DJ line-up promises to send the party into overdrive. The organisers are expecting more than 20,000 people over the two days.
The events team at Nikki Beach is also planning Moda Algarve (Fashion Algarve) between July 27 and 30 in Vilamoura. Top models from all over the world will present new collections from Versace, Valentino, Gucci, Armani, Chanel and Prada.
