Resulting from a joint initiative of the Orquestra do Algarve and the
Teatro Municipal of Faro, the cycle of "Promenade Concerts" begins on
26th February, running until June, and has been specially conceived
with families in mind.
This collection of concerts materialises "the efforts of the
Orquestra do Algarve in seeking formats" which "can bring classical
music to all areas of the public", refers a press release.
According to the same source, the concerts are marked "by their
informality and a careful choice of programmes that promotes the
interaction with the public".
Specially aimed at families, all the concerts are scheduled
to take place on Sundays at 12.00hrs, in the Teatro Municipal of Faro.
"The Carnival of the Animals", by Camille Saint-Saëns, is the
work chosen for the first concert. It is followed by "Peter and the
Wolf" by Sergei Prokofiev, on 26th March.
Following on, there will be a collection of programmes drawn
from themes like dance, such as "The Virtuosos", dedicated to
Pagannini, Chopin and Rimsky-Korsakov, on 28th May, and to end the
cycle, on 18th June, "The Smile of a Genius", a concert dedicated to
Mozart.
