After a hectic season, which culminated in him winning the Premiership title with Manchester United and picking up both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards, Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying a relaxing break this summer.

Last month he decided to take a well-deserved holiday at the luxurious Vale do Lobo Golf, Beach and Spa Resort, in Portugal's central Algarve, staying in a luxurious beach-side villa.

Ronaldo first got to know Vale do Lobo at a Manchester United pre-season training camp and he subsequently returned to the privacy and security of the resort to recover in the aftermath of last year's World Cup.

He is perhaps influenced by United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant coach  
Carlos Queiroz, who have described Vale do Lobo as “the ideal place for a holiday”.

Even though he was taking a few days off, Ronaldo didn’t disregard training, reserving part of his days for practising on the football pitch, working out in the Fitness Centre and running on the beach. He also fitted in a game of tennis with Vale do Lobo CEO Diogo Gaspar Ferreira. Unfortunately Ronaldo lost, but was quick to arrange a rematch for his next visit.

Vale do Lobo is one of the longest established developments in the Algarve and property values continue to rise there every year. Facilities include golf courses, a spa, tennis courts, watersports, bowling, and yoga. The resort also has its own shops and restaurants and a medical centre.

Vale do Lobo is situated on Portugal's central Algarve coastline, an unspoilt area with year-round sun.
