The Sasha Summer Sessions begin next Friday and will continue until the end of August. There will be 25 different parties which promise to provide plenty of excitement in the Algarve Barlavento. Night, fashion, music and television are the four themes for the programme of parties which Sasha Beach and Portimão Council are organising between 27th July and 20th August on the beach at Praia da Rocha.
Luís Evaristo, who owns the space in Portimão, said that there will be 25 parties with specific entertainment and artists to represent each of the four areas. Manuel da Luz, the municipal president, said that for Portimão this event was an integral part of the work promoting Portimão as a tourist destination, adding that it was an ambitious and key event for the city, in a public/private partnership which will continue for the next three months. The entertainment programme begins next Friday with the party “Hello Summer”, which is the official opening of Sasha Summer Sessions 2007. The sound cabin will be in the hands of the Martinez Brothers duo, in a style which is trying to get away from electronic house and seeks links with soul in both instruments and voice. There will follow parties with some resonant names of dance music such as Eric Morillo, Pete Tha Zouk, Martin Solveig, along with performances by Da Weasel and guests from the channel MTV. At present the site is being prepared in front of Sasha Beach, where there is already a restaurant, near the Portimão marina shopping area.
