the New World" and "Naturalia". The inaugurations take place on 21st
between 18.00 and 20.00hrs.
"Travelling Plants: Colours and Flavours of the New World" recalls the
passage of the 500 years from the death of Christopher Columbus, and
aims to make known the changes brought by the discovery of America, in
the landscape and in the eating habits and of consumption from Europe. The second exhibition entitled "Naturalia" brings together works by
thirteen visual artists, namely: Alberto Carneiro, Alexandre Conefry,
Catarina Leitão, Fernande Léger, Gabriela Albergaria, Jorge Guerra,
João Queiroz, Pedro Calapez, Pedro Proença, Rui Vasconcelos, Lourdes
Castro, Maria Beatriz and Valente Alves.
These artists are represented in the collection of the Centre

vegetation, with a modern and contemporary artistic expression.
"The coincidence and semantic superimposition of the two,
vegetation heritage and artistic expression, respond to the challenges
whose particularity can be illustrated, with the facility of its
"natural" evidence, through this collection of works", states Leonor
Nazaré, who assured the commisariat of both the exhibitions.
The shows are integrated in the "Festival of the Discoveries", starting on 21st October in Lagos.
