New CEO for VILA VITA Portugal

VILA VITA Portugal, the anchor of which is the five-star VILA VITA Parc luxury resort, has named international hotelier Luís Fernandes the CEO. “VILA VITA Parc is widely known in Europe as Portugal’s finest resort, combining timeless elegance, style and personalized guest experiences in a sensual and lush seaside oasis,” said Fernandes. “Now we are going to introduce VILA VITA’s enchanting Portuguese hospitality to the United States and elsewhere.”

Algarve climate change alert

Tourists visiting the Algarve can now look forward to seeing fish they previously would have only found in sub-tropical seas or warmer corners of the Mediterranean Sea. On the other hand, explained Jorge Gonçalves in comments to the Lusa News Agency, marine flora, typical of cooler waters, is being pushed further north, seeking to escape the rising sea water temperature in the Algarve.

Cars and stars at Algarve summer rock festival

A four-day summer festival of adrenalin-packed car racing and international music stars will be taking place at Algarve’s Motor Park this August. Music fans of all ages will be able to enjoy a varied programme of music with British soul singer James Morrison and British hindu rock band Bloc Party already confirmed as headline acts. Rock One, the first festival of its kind in Portugal, will be held between August 5 and 8, and will include a variety of national and international music bands, many of which have yet to be confirmed.

The English singer is to perform in Albufeira in the Algarve, to sing some of the hits that made him famous worldwide. The British singer will be performing at the Herdade dos Salgados Resort in Albufeira on 1st August at 10 pm, joining names such as Joss Stone on 31st July, Maria Rita (with the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra) on 5th August and Mariza on 14th August. Maria Rita will be performing at the Hotel Grande Real Santa Eulália in Albufeira, while Mariza’s concert will be on the waterfront in Vila Real de Santo António.
