 The seventh season of the European Poker Tour has commenced and will be coming to Vilamoura from August 28th to September 2nd. It is the second year running this renowned tournament is taking place in Vilamoura, attracting some of the best players in the world to compete for the massive prize money. The debut event in Vilamoura in 2009 had the biggest prize money ever in a Portuguese poker tournament, with a prize pool of €1.5m. |

 The 1.5m euro (£1.24m, US$1.98m) spa within the 55m euro (£45.2m, US$70.5m) Longevity Wellness Resort in the Algarve has opened. Covering a total area of 387,500sq ft (36,000sq m) with a 9,150sq ft (850sq m) spa, the property has been created to bring an integrated medical spa to a resort environment. The wellness element to the Longevity Wellness Resort centres on an anti-ageing medical spa that has been created in an exclusive partnership between La Clinique de Paris and its founder, Dr Claude Chauchard. |

The boat tours on the Ria Formosa, and the walking and sightseeing tours on the countryside and mountain, are a market niche for the nature lovers. Bird watching is also a growing sector. The Sun plays with the water and a soft breeze rocks the boat leaving from the pier in Tavira. We are starting a boat tour aboard of the Sequa Tours company boat. After a short path in the Gilão River, we reach the Ria Formosa. Seagulls and ducks lay still in the waters while boats cross the canals. |

 The Algarve has this week emerged as the preferred destination for British parent’s who can look forward to getting more holiday cash this year than last if they visit the eurozone, thanks to a rise in the value of sterling, Post Office Travel Money’s new Family Holiday Report has revealed. While the report cautions against hefty charges families could face while abroad, it states there is some good news for families holidaying in Europe. Although 24 per cent of parents complained about meal and drink costs, the Post Office Family Holiday Report reveals that family meals account for the biggest drop in prices this year. |
