Biggest Portugal´s karting circuit opens in Portimão |
The new Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve, Algarve International Karting circuit, have hosted a national championship kart race last weekend. The Rotax Max Challenge race have marked the kart circuit opening, last Sunday, with three Algarvian pilots in competition - Sérgio Sousa, Ruben Miguel and Tomás Apolónia. “It was an honour to open this new complex, but we where focused on the winning, since it was an unknown track for all the team members” said Sérgio Sousa. Circuit has cost around 11 million Euros This new karting track has cost to Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Parkalgar)around 11 million euros, being the biggest kartódromo in Portugal, with 168 different versions of the circuit depending on the type of use. The total perimeter of the karting track is set to be 1,6 metres, allowing three simultaneous lanes working, and an extra lane for children up to six years old. This kartódromo, which will be completely finished in July, will also be a multi-purpose karting circuit suitable for a wide range of purposes, from the traditional competition racing to amateur races, or simply for hiring karts for fun. In summer, the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve is scheduled to host the World Series of Karting in the weekend of July 3 and 4. |
