The Algarve's beaches are now safer and cleaner than ever before, recently the beaches of the Algarve have been awarded 69 Blue Flags by the safety body Blue Flag. Earning the Algarve region the highest number of flags in Portugal. The area has been awarded 15 more flags than in it managed in 2009 and is pleased to have broken a record in Portugal.
