 Sir Cliff Richard feels lucky to have a street named after him. The Devil Woman hitmaker divides his time between various houses he owns across the world, but one of his favorite places is Portugal's Algarve region, where they even re-named a road in the town Albufeira in his honor.  Equinostrum is the name of Faro’s new equestrian centre, which boasts six hectares of indigenous fauna, located in the Ria Formosa natural park and which allows visitors to practice hippotherapy and bird watching, among other activities. The new equestrian and leisure centre in Faro is located at the entrance to the city, at the extreme northern end of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, with access to Ludo and Pontal. According to the owners, it is unique to the Algarve and has had approval for horse riding from Portugal’s Sports Institute. |

This week an exhibition featuring the most captivating photos taken by photo-journalists published over the past year was inaugurated at Portimão’s Museum, where it will run until 28 August. This year 5,691 photographs by 108,059 photographers from 125 countries were evaluated by the 54th World Press Photo exhibition. Awarded pictures were taken by 55 professionals of 23 different nationalities. |

 Quarteira will host the ninth FestAfrica, an Algarve festival of African music and culture at Praça do Mar from 10pm on 23 July. Organised by the Friendship Association of Portuguese speaking African Countries in the Algarve (APALGAR), with support from Loulé Town Hall and Quarteira Parish Council, the event is aimed at African residents as well as Portuguese and foreign residents and tourists in the region. |
