EU helps fund new sport centre for Faro

The EU is contributing almost one million euros towards the construction of a new sport and well being centre, which is due to be inaugurated near the Ria Formosa in Faro, this month. The project, which represents a total investment of around three million euros, received a declaration that it was of particular interest to the tourism industry, which led the EU to provide €800,000 towards its creation. Algarve Motor Park harnesses solar energy

Around €750,000 has been invested by a joint partnership between Parkalgar, which manages the Algarve Motor Park and Galp Energia to build a Photovoltaic Centre to produce electricity on site, that is now operational. The photovoltaic complex is linked to the national grid and is now producing energy. Occupying a 3,000 square metre space in the northern park of the Motor Park site, the complex has 504 200W monocrystlaine silica photovoltaic panels made by Efacec.

World class cuisine to experience in Albufeira

Menus designed by chefs awarded with Michelin stars, chocolate workshops and other delicacies, are part of the 5th edition of the International Gourmet Festival "Tribute to Claudia", to be held in Albufeira during the upcoming week. Starting next Friday, January 14th, and lasting for 10 days, the festival will have its epicentre in the kitchen of the hotel Vila Joya, the only one in Portugal awarded with two Michelin Stars.

Orquestra do Algarve with premiere in Brazil

The presence in the 29th Oficina de Música de Curitiba, one of the largest music events in Latin America, marks the agenda of the Orquestra do Algarve, who will also present a New Year’s concert, a concert for the Kings and a new cycle of Promenade concerts. The Orquestra do Algarve (OA) starts 2011 with two New Year’s concert, on January 1st in Vilamoura Casino and on Janury 2nd in the Auditório Municipal de Lagoa.

AfroTeam tunes up for adventure

The Algarve based Portuguese team will participate on the world’s biggest humanitarian rally: the Budapest-Bamako.
