Cruise boats/Fishing

Pick a calm day and treat the family to a half or full day cruise along the Algarve's spectacular coast. Cruise boats operate out of Portimão and the marinas at Vilamoura and Lagos.     You can also go river cruising - an all day trip on the Guadiana from Vila Real de Stº Antonio, or a shorter trip up to Silves and back from Portimao.     For a less expensive day out, close to the coasts, join a boatload of hopefuls bottom   fishing with light tackle for Bass and Sea Bass and other inshore species.     Local fisherman bring along their own tackle on these outings but all the essentials are laid on for visitors.     Freshwater fishing is not a big sport in the Algarve and licenses are required. Tackle can be hired at the Arade Reservoir where there are Black Bass, Carp, Perch and Eels. In the rivers, notably the Guadiana, you can catch Mullet and Lampreys.
