International College of Vilamoura amongst the 10 best Portuguese schools |
|
In the publication of the rankings of schools of secondary learning,
the International College of Vilamoura (ICV) is placed amongst the 10
best Portuguese secondary schools.
Despite the different standpoints in relation to the criteria
established by the various national newspapers, the International
College of Vilamoura achieved: 2nd place in the national ranking of the
Jornal de Notícias (and 1st place in the same paper in the ranking
which compares the exam results with the final classifications); 8th
place in the ranking of the Correio da Manhã; 21st place in the Público
and 11th place in the ranking of the Diário de Notícias.
In the international exams of the University of Cambridge
(IGCSE and A levels), the pupils exceeded the initial expectations:
100% of the pupils from the 13th form (final year) were admitted to
English universities and simultaneously, to the best Portuguese
universities. Even in mathematics, 55.6% of the pupils were classified
above the 16 points.
According to a source from the College, no special
preparations are needed for the exams, as "the pupils are able from the
start to resolve problems with recourse to different areas of
knowledge. The key question is in the resolution of problems with the help of the different areas of knowledge, positive spirit, creativity and self-discipline".
The International College of Vilamoura is included in an
international network of schools which feature around 600 colleges
around the world, and is one that has the most developed international
missions in other countries.
"The management of the school and its foundations and the
management of what emerges from its foundations" are the two
determining aspects in its success, in the long term. This is the fifth
year that this school of international education has been placed in the
best position of the Algarve in the ranking of Portuguese schools.
