The Montepio Geral, within the scope of its economic and social policy,
distinguished the Instituto D. Francisco Gomes, commonly known as the
Casa dos Rapazes (Boys' Home) of Faro, "as one of the best institutions of solidarity of its type, on a
national level, contributing to the development of its project with a
donation of 25 thousand euros", refers the bank in a press release.
The cheque was presented in a symbolic ceremony, at the
institution, and counted on the presence of various representatives of
Montepio Geral, as well as José Apolinário, President of the Municipal
Council of Faro and António Pina, Civil Governor of Faro.
According to the President of the Instituto D. Francisco
Gomes, António Barão, "this recognition is of great importance, not
only in the valorizing of the Institution and the work of all its staff
and, but principally because the monetary value in question allows the
realisation of some reforms, such as the new floors of the three
residences and the renovation of the refectory installations".
The Institute D. Francisco Gomes is improving the
infrastructures of the Institution, investing in the creation of events
and spaces and, simultaneously, allowing a self-sufficient management,
the paradigm of these objectives being the recently inaugurated creche
"O Relógio". However, the management of the Casa dos Rapazes added that
"the donations and support of the public and private entities become
pronderant for the equilibrium of the Institution and the daily
guarantee of wellbeing and healthy development of more than 60 boys in
the care of the institution".
