Faro - Madrid for 10 euros |
The new route between Faro and Madrid by the airline Ryanair is now in
action, the inaugural flight having been made today from the Spanish
capital. The journey between the two cities cost only 10 euros. The Irish «low-cost» airline offers daily flights: Faro-Madrid
at 13.35hrs and Madrid-Faro at 12.50hrs.
The journey takes approximately one hour.
Representatives of ANA, of the aviation company, of the
Associação de Turismo do Algarve (ATA) and politicians from Andalucia
presented the new service this morning, in an official ceremony which
took place in Faro Airport.
Considered by all as being of "extreme interest", the route
connects the region to one of the principal European capitals, for
which it is "very important for the development of the Algarvian
touristic market", considered the head of Ryanair in the Algarve,
Francisco Bragança.
The opinion is corroborated by ATA, who have now launched a
promotion campaign to the Madrid market for the end of the Algarvian
year, promising golf and the Lisbon-Dakar Rally.
The Mayor of Cartaya, Juan Millán Faldón, said he was "very
satisfied", emphasising the proximity to Faro, which "will come to be
the communication base between the cities of the region of Huelva and
the capital Madrid".
For the rest, Rynair, considered the major low-cost company in
Europe, has made an investment of 210 million dollars in three new
aeroplanes and hopes to transport a million passengers a year to Madrid.
