The Projecto Marchas-Passeio/Algarve 2006/2007 (Project of Organised
Walks/Algarve 2006/2007), integrated in the National Programme of
Sports for Everybody, will begin on Sunday 24th September at 10.00 in
Estoi.
The first organised walk, organised by the Grupo de Jograis António
Aleixo, is also integrated in the commemoration of World Heart Day,
with the organisers appealing "to the participation of walkers of all
ages".
This project is an initiative of the Faro district delegation
of the Sports Institute of Portugal and the organisation of the walks
falls to the Parish Councils, community centres, local authorities and
associated groups, "entities who are fundamental for the implantation
and success of the project".
The participants can get to know "pleasant routes in direct
contact with nature and with favourable distances for all ages", as a
way of fulfilling its objectives: motivation for walking in a
perspective of leisure and well-being, reduction of stress, offering a
physical and psychological well-being and creating friendships through
socialising and group collaboration.
The programme runs until June of next year, ending in
Alcoutim. After Estoi, the walkers will get together on 1st October in
Benafim.
